ALA Book Awards to Be Announced Monday, January 14, 2008
On January 14 the American Library Association is set to announce their prestigious 2008 awards for children's literature--the Newbery Award for authors and the Caldecott Award for illustrators, the primary American awards for achievment in children's and young adult literature.
ALA also will announce a number of other specialized awards--the Batchelder Award for books for children originally published abroad, the Belpre' Award for Latino literature for children in English, the Carnegie Award for children's video, the Geisel Award for literature for beginning readers, the Sibert Award for informational literature for children, the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award for lifetime contribution to children's literature, and the Odyssey Award for the best audiobook for children.
I will try to report these awards as soon as they are made public.
