  • I have been such a lazy blogger lately! However, the last of our visitors (let's be honest, they are really Darcy's visitors) are leaving this weekend, so we'll be on our own! With all the help around the house, I was able to do some cooking this week, which was really nice. I made the old favorite Buffalo Chicken Chili and tried two new recipes - Hula Chicken and French Bread Pizzas. All of them were hits and I'll be posting reviews.

  • Last year, I did a whole week's worth of Rachael Ray Christmas related posts all at once. This year I decided to space them out a bit so as not to overwhelm you (or myself) with all the choices and planning! I also wanted these posts to serve as an update to the last round, so I won't be including recipes I previously posted about. To check out last year's brunch recipes, go here.

  • It's Super Bowl time again! We're having a few friends over for the game and I'm just now starting to figure exactly what to serve. I try to have at least three or four different things that are good at room temperature, so people can pick at them throughout the game. Now, serving chips and salsa just seems too easy, so I try to avoid that. For me, the Super Bowl = dips!
Here are a few ideas I have for this year, taken from Rachael's recipe collections on the Food Network, her talk show, and her magazine:

  • Thanks to my cousin Jeny (who came up with the idea), this is the first time I'm doing a post called "Ask Madeline." I get e-mails all the time from people looking for a certain recipe or wondering what Rachael Ray does with [fill in the blank].

Answering these e-mails is one of the best parts about running ERR, since I feel like I can put my oddly encyclopedic knowledge of Rachael Ray's recipes to good use. Plus, her new talk show website makes it really hard to find old recipes. At least the Food Network has recently improved its search function. Sorry, I digress. Here is the first of the Ask Madeline posts!

    Julie asked:

  • I just love a recipe that doesn't destroy the kitchen and Grilled Chicken and Eggplant Parm is one of those recipes. Now, it must be said that some recipes are worth destroying the kitchen for. However, every now and then, it's great to make a recipe that tastes great, is healthy, and requires only a little bit of clean up.

  • I got a fun email this week from Tammy, who appeared on Rachael Ray's talk show last March with her dog, Spudgy. They were featured in a segment called "Famous YouTube Stars." Tammy said the experience was a great one, from the staff all the way to meeting Rachael.

According to Tammy: "Rachael is stunning in person and just as nice as she portrays on TV." She also said that being on Rachael's talk show was one "of the best experiences ever and she and her staff are the best!"

  • Can you believe Thanksgiving is next week!? What the heck? Macy's even has Christmas decorations up already. Sigh. So, to help us get ready, here's a list of Rachael Ray's Thanksgiving recipes. I included both full menus and individual recipes. The ones I make every year are the Southern Green Beans and the Apple and Onion Stuffin' Muffins.
