appraisal Stickley Brothers Quaint Furniture Library Table

Stephen asks
:

I have an oak library table (or desk) manufactured by Stickley Bros. & Co., Grand Rapids, MI, under the "Quaint" Furniture label.

The dimensions are 39.75 inches wide, 25.75 inches deep and 30.5 inches high. Attached are a number of photos I've taken; I'd be happy to provide more if you would like. As you will see, the top probably could stand to be refinished, but otherwise it is in very good condition.

I'm interested in selling this piece, but have no idea (1) what it is worth and (2) what the best way would be to go about doing so (e.g., on eBay, by taking it to a consignment shop, etc.). I'm located in San Francisco, CA. Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks very much.

That's a great little table, I am getting more and more requests for information on Stickley furniture.

Date range:
1920s

Retail value:
$600-$900
(top price)

Wholesale value: $400 - $600
(The midrange price you could expect to achieve at a well advertised live auction. The price that is most often realized)

Quick sale value: $300-$400. You shouldn't have to sell a good Stickley piece and Quick Sale Value.
The price your likely to get if you have to sell your item immediately and your prospective customer is aware of this.

Common trade terminology: Mission Oak, Library Table, Art & Crafts, Stickley Brothers, Quaint Furniture

Slang terms: N/A

Selling tips: Your in a great area to sell this. I'd either post it on eBay as a local only item so you don't have to ship it. If you post it on eBay, make sure to use all the great pics that you sent me, especially the one with the label.

Another good option is to consign it to a reputable auction house in your area who will put it in their ad as a draw. Although it's not the highest price Stickley furniture piece, any good condition Stickley Bros item should be a draw right not. Mission style furniture sells best in CA and New York.

Good Luck with it.

Care and storage tips: I wouldn't touch it.
