Reason for Reading: TBR Challenge'08
Back of the Book:
"All the creatures of the night gather in "the Hollows" of Cincinnati, to hide, to prowl, to party ... and to feed.
Vampires rule the darkness in a predator-eat-predator world rife with dangers beyond imagining -- and it’s Rachel Morgan's job to keep that world civilized."
My Thoughts:
I have been waiting to read this series for quite a while. I was a little disappointed with this book but I am not sure it is the author's fault. I started out listening on iPod and I got irritated with it. The reader is ok. That wasn't the problem. I just got very frustrated and felt like it was taking forever. So I gave up on the audio book and picked up the paperback version and I felt much better.
I enjoyed the character of Rachel Morgan. She is tough, smart, and has an every-person charm about her. However, I did find the story a little repetitive. Rachel comes up with a scheme to complete her task, she doesn't think things through and ends up getting in a jam, and her friends have to bail her out. This happens several times throughout the story and it starts to get a bit tedious. But as I said before, I was already losing patience with the audio book and that may have colored my opinion. I am scheduled to read the next two books in this series for '08 challenges. I hope for better luck next time.(2.5/5)
