When Canada takes to the ice on Boxing Day at this years World Junior Hockey Championships, changing the names on the sweaters may very well be the last of the equipment managers worries.

For the most part, the selection team roster that goes to a mini camp in seven days will be made up of many of the players from the team that defeated the Russians in the recent Junior version of the Super Series.

All it took was two practices and two intra squad games and head coach Craig Hartsburg knew who he wanted to wear Canada's colours this Christmas in the Czech Republic.
Hartsburg released thirteen players on Thursday, one day earlier than expected as he once again decided that the younger players will carry Canada onto the world stage starting on Boxing Day.

The arrangements for the 100th Anniversary of the World Hockey Championships is coming together nicely for Halifax and Quebec City, as sixteen teams make their early plans for the competition, the first time that it has been held in Canada.

When Team Canada takes to the ice on Boxing Day in the Czech Republic, the goal will be to claim their fourth straight Gold Medal for Canada.
And should they keep that covenant with the fans back home, some three million Canadians will be watching, cheering and with a little luck celebrating with them.

It’s to be an extended European Vacation for Stanley as the fabled trophy will be looking at a fair amount of travel across the Atlantic, after quick jaunts across America and Canada before next season gets underway.

The 90th edition of the Memorial Cup is underway in Kitchener, Ontario as the host Rangers try to win the coveted trophy on home ice. Kitchener was the OHL champion this year, so Belleville receives the fourth spot in the Canadian hockey final four, thanks to their championship runner up status in the OHL.

Rounding out the Cup contenders this year are Gatineau and Spokane.

All games are being broadcast on Sportsnet across the country.

Canada once again takes to the ice at Davos, Switzerland for the annual Club team championship, Canada's team is comprised mainly of Canadians playing hockey for European club teams with a few notable additions.

This year, Team Canada features Curtis Joseph as their highlight reel addition, as the former NHLer takes to the nets to help out in the quest of the Spengler.

There won't be a need to call a meeting of Sidney Crosby fan club this weekend in Vancouver, it would seem that the charter members have been celebrating his conquest of Western Canada for most of the week. While others try to find some drama to add to the most anticipated hockey tour in some time.

With Sid the Kid and the rest of the just past the boppin years Pens about to face off against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night, the Vancouver media has done its bit to make sure that all aspects of the Crosby tour have been covered.
